Spring Projects

I love the change of seasons because they feel like a fresh start.  It motivates me in a way that nothing else does. This Spring is no different… And while Spring cleaning seems to be sweeping the rest of the internet, my spring projects are less about deep cleaning and more about changing things to be more beautiful, practical and pleasurable.

Here’s what I plan to accomplish this spring:

Paint my Kitchen and Bathroom. I’m tired of red and black.  I’m going for pale blue in both, and since the rooms are so small, I think I’ll be able to get away with one can of paint!  Nothing changes the feel of a room like a fresh coat of paint.

Cull mismatched glassware and switch to all mason jars.  I love mason jars as drinking glasses.  And I used them for measurements in cooking as well.  I think they’re pretty and practical and versatile.  And I just really want to have some uniformity in my kitchen!

Paint knife block, spice rack, and cutlery jars. These things need to be freshened up anyway, but I’ve also become obsessed with the idea of a pink kitchen lately.  I’ve seen so many retro inspired pink kitchens with pink ovens and stand mixers and things and I love it!  I’d love to paint the walls pink, but I think Tony would have a fit.  I think when we have a house of our own one day I will do pink walls or cabinets, because the kitchen is definitely my domain and I want my forever kitchen to be exactly how I want it.  But I can see why a rental company wouldn’t want me to paint the walls or cabinets pink…

Start my garden.  I’m insanely excited to be planting a raised bed garden this year.  It’s been so long since I’ve grown my own food.  It’s been so long since I’ve had anything fresh from the garden!  It will be so cool to have our own little garden out on the patio.

Plant lots of flowers. I did the Cheerios thing where I get wildflower seeds, so those will definitely be planted on my patio.  I also have daisy seeds that I need to plant and lavender too.  And we have abundant sunshine here, so they’ll actually be able to grow.

Make some fruit prints for the Kitchen.  I’m no artist when it comes to painting, but I can do this.  I love the look of this and I think it’s such a perfect piece for a happy kitchen!

Those are the things I’m most excited to work on as the weather warms up. Happy Spring, everyone!

What I Ate Wednesday!

Breakfast: Vegan Sausage and mustard with Tazo Blushberry Tea (my new obsession)

Lunch: Unglamorous leftover Jambalaya from a box. Tony HATED this. And it wasn’t very good.

Tony and I went out for a coffee date. I got a cappuccino and it was soooo good. I love a good quality coffee with just milk. It’s not too sweet and the coffee still shines through.

Snack: I got pretty hungry after we went shopping at two different malls. I wanted something crunchy and salty, so I had some Skinnygirl Lime & Salt popcorn. I loooove this stuff. It doesn’t give you that sick feeling that oily, buttery popcorn, but still tastes awesome.

Dinner: Coconut shrimp and grain salad with cucumber and tomato. It was so delicious!  I love these grain salads because you can just throw them together with whatever you have in the fridge. And I love shrimp pretty much any way, but especially covered in coconut.

That’s all for today. Thanks for stopping by!
